Mentoring
I've had so many smart and gracious mentors throughout my career which is why mentoring others is so important to me, so I can help them unleash their full potential. And selfishly, I learn so much from each person I work with.
I volunteer my time to mentor and do not get compensated. I'm not an executive coach, nor do I pretend to be one.
I'm always looking for more people to work with. Please reach out through my contact page if you're interested in learning more.
Companies and Organizations I Support as a Mentor
Next Gen Tech 360
I was extremely fortunate to become a mentor for such an aspiring and beneficial organization. Connect-IT 360, run by Robyn Mussler, is an award winning program that teaches high school students how to build and market a product. Think of it as Shark Tank for High School Students.
Students are competing to win a $10,000 cash prize and a chance to pitch to one of the original sharks of Shark Tank, Kevin Harrington.
Here is a promo video for the program that includes the latest team that I mentored, High Key, who went on to win the competition with their musical AI product that will allow you to unlock your inner musician:
Torch
Torch works with companies across verticals and regions to help their employees with personalized, 1 on 1 coaching and mentoring. I joined Torch back in 2017 as a volunteer mentor and have since mentored leaders in both the US & Europe who work at such companies as Twitter, Google, and Allstate to name a few. Formal ngagements last 6 months with monthly meetings to discuss the mentee's goals and areas of focus.
Here are just a few testimonials from past mentees:
"Scott has been my mentor during a Torch/Everwise mentoring program, he has been an invaluable resource in helping me to understand how to be a more effective leader. Through our partnership, Scott has helped me to understand the work necessary to effectively develop a team. He has also helped me to grasp the mindset necessary to manage time effectively as the leader of an organization.
Scott is an experienced leader and is very organized and enthusiastic. He clearly enjoys teaching and he clearly enjoys learning, and I have directly felt the benefit of that. Thanks to his guidance I feel more prepared for leadership positions going forward in my career."
-Keenan Patterson - Gameplay Programmer at Double Fine Productions
"Having Scott as my mentor allowed me to gain confidence and valuable skills and knowledge to achieve the goals I had set before enrolling to the mentorship program."
-Nadine Boucher - Lead, Technical Program Management at Unity Technologies
The Forem
The Forem was founded by an ex-Google sales executive, Alli Young, who wanted to make it easier for employees to get high quality facilitations and trainings that they can use to level up. They offer a dynamic platform dedicated to streamlining, facilitating, and enhancing corporate training processes.
They also host Level Up Cohorts allowing participants to choose their focus area: level up to a new role, pivot to another role or career, or crush it in their current role, and a mentorship program that I've been a part of since 2020 that provides 1 on 1 just-in-time mentorships for their members.
The University of Tampa - Sykes College of Business Leadership Program
One of my most rewarding mentorships is when I get to work with students. Not only are they thirsty for advice and knowledge, I get to learn so much from them as they begin their careers or look to pivot to something new. I've been a Leadership Coach with The Unversity of Tampa, Sykes College of Business since 2020 mentoring MBA & EMBA students for a semester each.
Here are just a few testimonials from past mentees:
"Mr. Scott is my coach in the Leadership Management course in University of Tampa. He is such a great coach when he shared with me so many his valuable experiences. I wish I could have more time in this course, so I could learn more from him. I really appreciate all his advice, recommendations, and documents he has shared with me. They are so useful for my career. I am so happy to have him as my coach. I hope I can have a chance to work with him in the future."
-Nguyen "Nikki" Nguyen - MBA and future fashion store mogul
"Scott was my assigned mentor for my first semester of Graduate School at University of Tampa. To call him capable, understanding, and professional in the role would be a vast understatement. Friendly and willing to help me in any way that he could, Scott was quick to share his own knowledge and expertise, and introduce me to friends and former colleagues of his who could help me navigate new industries and expand upon my own knowledge during uncertain times. He was happily available to chat whenever I reached out, and made the mentorship program at UT an experience I will never forget. I would recommend him and the program to anyone interested."
